GKL REQUIREMENTS FOR GARAGE KEEPER:
GKL REQUIREMENTS FOR GARAGE KEEPER:
· Must be a registered repair facility in Michigan with an active license status.
· Provide your repair facility ID number, facility name and address.
· Must be in possession of the vehicle.
· Provide a signed Appointment of Agent form authorizing Elmer Raskin & Associates LLC to represent the garage keeper in the GKL process with the State of Michigan.
To start the GKL process, we simply need a copy of your work order or repair invoice
(a written estimate is not sufficient.) This document must contain the following:
· Vehicle year, make, and model.
· V.I.N. number
· Name and address of vehicle owner or agent.
· Current odometer reading.
· Michigan license plate number.
· Start date of repair.
· Completion date of repair no older than 90 days.
· Itemized charges for repair, labor, parts, towing, and storage. Indicate a daily storage rate greater than $10 per day if you have signed authorization from the vehicle owner permitting the greater daily rate.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
With proper lien application submission, it will take approximately 90 to 100 days to obtain the paperwork to apply for a clear title. Remember, our primary goal is to “jolt’ the vehicle owner or prior lienholder into paying your outstanding repair bill and redeeming the vehicle before ownership transfers to you. Redemption can occur anytime during this 90 to 100-day process.
